Where?

Westchester Bridge

Best for elevated North Runway Views
The road bridge on Westchester Parkway offers excellent, elevated views of planes landing and their final approach to the north runways (24L/R). See the tires smoke on touchdown.

Location: On Westchester Parkway, near the LAX Airport Police Station. The bridge crosses over Lincoln Boulevard.

Address: Westchester Parkway at Georgetown Ave. 90045. The bridge is just east of Georgetown Ave. (NO PARKING ON WESTCHESTER PARKWAY)

Best For: Viewing landings and takeoffs on the North Runways (24R/24L).

Views: The elevated view from the bridge puts you nearly eye-level with the aircraft as they operate on the east end of the runways. You can see the first one-third of the runway directly in front of you. Watch the tires smoking as aircraft touch down with the LAX Theme Building and control tower behind. Walk west to Georgetown Ave. for views of the tails lined up at the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

Proximity: Medium close (Views the first 1/2 of the runway).

Photography: The bridge's height provides a clear, unobstructed shot over the fence line, allowing for great full-body photos of the aircraft on the runway.

Hours: Always Open

Parking: There is NO close, dedicated parking near the bridge. However, there are some close spaces available next to the LAX Police Station on 94th St. Westchester Park is also nearby with plenty of parking at LIncoln Blvd and La Tijera Blvd. It is a short 5-10 minute walk to the rock path that goes up the hill from 94th St to Westchester Parkway. This path is not wheelchair accessible.

Facilities: There are no facilities at this spot. There is shopping and restaurants nearby.

Reverse Operations: See planes touch down on 24R directly in front of the bridge.

This spot is located on a roadway and you will have to cross several lanes of traffic without a light. There is a median which makes it easy to cross. There is a sidewalk and a guardrail on Westchester Parkway.
