Dockweiler Beach
Best for having planes take off above you
Allows views of plane departures over the Pacific Ocean. Sand, sea and spotting!
Location: Dockweiler State Beach west of LAX.
Address: 12000 Vista Del Mar, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293
Best For: Hanging out at the beach and planespotting.
Views: Directly overhead, with the Pacific Ocean and beach as a backdrop.
Proximity: Planes fly about 1000 ft overhead
Photography: Great late afternoon/sunset light. Position yourself directly under, north, or south of the action.
Hours: Daily 6:00 AM–10:00 PM. You can still exit the park after 10:00pm, but that is when the lots close for entry.
Parking: Paid parking in the state beach lots.
Facilities: Restrooms, fire pits, beach access, RV park.
Reverse Operations: Excellent views of planes on final approach over the Pacific.
